For the six-day riders, the day started with an early 4.45am alarm call on the ferry ahead of their arrival into Ouistreham.

It was a drizzly morning in northern France, leaving the riders damp and muddy on stage one.
Thankfully, the weather improved as the day went on but it was a long day in the saddle, with the route covering 280km and taking in many scenic villages in northern France.
After five stages – including lunch and dinner on the road – the group arrived into Blois at 10:20pm
For me and the other four-day riders, Friday was a day of trains and automobiles. First, we travelled by Eurostar from London to Paris. We then had a short coach transfer followed by a further train journey to Blois and taxi to the hotel.
Spirits were high among the four-day riders as they tucked into their steak frites in the evening. Tomorrow an epic adventure awaits.
