What does the latest PDR consultation mean for the right to build upwards?
In its desire to boost housing delivery, the government is revisiting the idea of a new permitted development right (PDR) to allow upward extensions to create new homes. The first consultation resulted only in a new national planning policy, adopted in July 2018, which offers support for the construction of well-designed homes above existing residential and commercial premises, where consistent with the prevailing height and form of neighbouring properties.
